Hi, has anyone fitted gas struts to the Stag bonnet. i know that gravity is a proper bind and all that... but why? I can only imagine the hilarity that ensues after you pop the bonnet catch to help the cooling systems on the motorway and then stop at the motorway exit some miles later cursing at the inside of the bonnet in front of you 🤣

If you fit the right lenght gas strut ,you have to lift the bonnet a bit before the struts will open , a job im going to do, bought the struts but as yet not fitted

Hatchback tailgate don't fly up as soon as you release the catch so as Dave says there is no reason fitted correctly a Stag bonnet should, many yanks are fitted with them. The Stag bonnet twists very easily unless you reach across lift it from the middle, which I not only is it a pain the corner of the bonnet has cought and damaged the paint.so I hope by fitting struts the bonnet will lift up squarely pushed by the struts from both sides.

These look like they may work, 303508017394, an eBay item. A quick look at the SOC link above and these seem a similar sort of length, as used in the orange stag. At under £10 it’s possibly worth a punt. Might have a look at my stag to see a good place to mount them, both on the bonnet and the suspension top turret.
