I only did it a short while ago but I honestly don't remember, but there has to be to return the switch back from the start position

I only did it a short while ago but I honestly don't remember, but there has to be to return the switch back from the start position Hi Graham
thanks for feed back , the return mech is done via the main key lock mech, ive ordered some metal polish for the contacts

do you mean the electrical bit or the key and steering lock bit?
Electrical bit, piece of cake, just watchout for the tiny ball bearing, mark the two haves of the case and backplate to ease reassembly. clean using contact cleaner, repress the contact rivets carefully and pack out with vaseline.
steering lock and key bit I have had apart years ago. Key barrel is held in with a roll pin that you will need to carefully drill out. the key barrel then comes out with the key inserted.
The steering lock part is more of a faff, iirc the cover is pined over by the aluminium body of the switch. it is possible to get it apart but then reassembly is a pain. I now have a working ignition switch but without the steering lock. I have another to fit when I get around to it.

I meant the electrical bit,didnt know theres ball bearings inside, what are they for

they give you the nice click as you move from off to position #1 and then #2.
