thinking of selling my Stag and buying a R107
I would like to get it valued buy someone in the flesh
Mind you R107 values are through the roof so I doubt if I would ever be able to afford one
So please talk me out of it or offer me way over top for my stag lol

You have to work out why you want to get rid of the Stag and what you want in it place. Personally, I dont like the Merc, it's not a good looking car. Possibly a far better car overall and more reliable.
I would only get rid of mine if I could find something that gave me the same as the Stag but more. I Have always, since a kid, wanted a Jensen Interceptor but it would have to have a new engine/tranmission, LS3 or LS9 and T56 box or similar auto. These car look and sound great but the convertible looks wrong.
The only real one would be a Porsche 997 Carrera 4s Cabriolet. As it wouldn't need anything done to it. I'd miss he sound of the V8 as some of the Porsche's sound like a lawn mower and it not British.
But if i had bought the Porsche (i would have lost it in the divorce as i did everything else) it may have been cheaper in the long run but I have sort of (1/2) enjoyed building the Stag. It taught me a lot and now I have a one off car, not for everyone but it's mine.
I have nearly got my car as i want it, it ticks all the boxes. British, V8, Convertible, alright/good handling, quick, good looking and cheap to insure. I wouldn't want to be with out it.
It makes me smile every time I see the car, i do get withdrawal when i don't see/drive it. Not many cars can do that.

Couple of things for me. One, it's a hobby as well as a mode of transportation one that you can customize and make it your own. Two, I believe there is a bit of vanity in all of us, I have sat many times in supermarket car parks waiting for the missis ( sorry don't do shopping) parked next various modern supercars with the drivers sitting in them. When people have walked past them and up to me to praise the car or ask if they can take photos or just to say that they had one and seeing it brings back memories. Of course it makes you feel good\proud as for me it's more than a car, its part of me from the time and the love I've put into it.

I was getting out of my Stag in a supermarket car park a couple of youngsters climbing on the walls stopped looked then shouted to his mates look at that old school car that's cool .

My work mate has a Metc SL450 (is that the R107, quite square looking?)
Anyway, he’s been trying to sell it for a couple of years and only offered £9K for it, maybe because it’s a 4.5V8 or maybe it’s in an orrible green.
Keep the Stag is my advice/opinion
