my first meet with the Stag Owners Club was at Silverstone in 2017
all I can say I wasn't welcomed with open arms lol
I am a member but haven't bothered with them since

my first meet with the Stag Owners Club was at Silverstone in 2017 all I can say I wasn't welcomed with open arms lol I am a member but haven't bothered with them since I found the same, was at a car/School event where the local SOC turned up. Great to see all the cars there when the Stag's turned up on mass. They didn't seem to enjoy themselves. There was one bloke telling them all where to park, what to do who was a bit obnoxious and his Stag had to be centre of attention. Wasn't that welcoming to a new Stag owner but I was there without the car, as it was in bits. I think if my car had been there it would have made no difference and would have been placed well out of the way.....Like a ginger stepchild. |

The exhibits are either roped off like they are special, or their owners extended family are all collapsed into chairs in front of or behind the car with no desire whatsoever to talk about the car. Spoils the photo op. I find myself walking past rows of shiny over restored cars to chat to the nice chap with his heavily patinated Moggie/Allegro/Viva/ whatever. IMHO one model car clubs are on the way out, a stag is a nice motor, but when it is parked up with dozens of others it just gets too boring for me, static car shows are boring. Living car shows is what it is all about. Hill climbs, Goodwood, Kop Hill. I met some good folk through SOC but that was a while ago |

I got banned from the SOC forum (like quite a few others) for, what I thought was sarcasm, webmaster thought defamatory remarks about an ex member. I complained to the chairman who sided with the webmaster. I’m now a member of CT. it’s a far better club, lots going on (pre covid) SOC days are numbered as I said to the chairman. I won’t be sorry to see it go.

I went to TSSC, partly because of our Vitesse and Spitfire, but largely because I know that the spiteful SOC Membership Secretary Peter R really hates the TSSC - a real bonus for me |

I did have some events booked with CT, coast to coast and RBRR, covid-19 scuppered that. i was going to say the Chinese scuppered that but thought I’d get banned?? Do you remember a fella getting all upset on SOC because someone complained about crap Chinese parts? He got upset because his wife was Chinese, I think that was the beginning of the end because he was supported?? |
