Yes you are Del lines (Weston suoermare) made this car with I believe help (read as parts) direct from BL at first. The originals have a unique vin plate afaik. If No had put into production I am sure they would have sold well and helped the development of the engine. This is what I understand . But I might be talking a load of crap. I would like to drive one.
Cheers Glenn

I see what mrtempler means with the rear wheel arches. The car is definitely a 2500. It’s not a Stag that’s been stretched and a roof put on. If you look at the only other remaining Non convertible Stag, the coupe, that’s is a Stag with added roof+. To me its not an estate Stag it looks like a Triumph P3000

Del Lines used to buy brand new estate body shells from BL. The engines were, I believe, warranty returns that were rebuilt in house. The interiors and most other fitting came from insurance write offs. I believe the only engine failure he ever had on the cars he supplied was the one where a customer demanded a new factory engine rather than a rebuilt one. Having seen how much sand was included free of charge in the ESS suffixed engines (I believe it stood for Engine Spares Stock) I am not surprised the BL engine failed.
I knew Alan Chatterton when he was a student, he had a poster of that car on his wall! The fact he was able to get hold of that very car all these years later is quite an achievement.
I didn't bother reading the whole article, but he has been able to get its original DEL 33 registration reissued.
BL actually built one of these which was on display at Gaydon for years. I believe it was built for the MD of BL at the time.
I built a replica about 10 years ago which has recently been fitted with efi like all my other Stag engined cars

I know Alan, he’s a member of club Triumph. The car is a stunner. I do like to wind him up by saying it isn’t a Stag but a Triumph estate with a Stag engine. Never fails to get a bite.
