One of the good things about no-body using this site much, is that you don’t have to wade through countless photographs of people stags in the sunshine. With the added quote “ had to take the old girl out“ or call the car some sort of girls name and its first trip out. Followed by lots of quotes with people saying she looks good, great looking stag and all other sorts of bollocks. generally blowing smoke up each other arse.
We all have stags, and at some point all of us will take it out for the first time this spring/summer, so it’s nothing new and nothing to put a photograph and a quote. However if you’ve done something interesting to the car then that might be worth posting.

Sounds like you’ve been looking at the fanny club, the source of Stag misinformation. Question: I’ve a problem with unlocking my boot? Answers: I use xxxx polish and it cured mine- followed by 16 pictures of shiny stag. Fit a dodgy aftermarket carb. More shiny stag photos. Change the gearbox oil, showing another shiny stag. Fit a dodgy aftermarket carb, 4 hours after the previous post saying the same thing. Shiny stag photos this time with a dog in the front seat As above but she’s got out. Try the small key that came with car.
O.P. Thanks, that cured it, I wondered what that key did. Get the picture?

I have been stripping the bright work off mine for it to go in for panel and paint - it’s looking rather sad

Yeah I think my car will be looking a bit sad for itself in a couple of days, due to the squeal like a pig incident. Which I’ve put down to a seized tensioner or waterpump or both. The kit turned up today, cam belt, idlers, tensioners, water pump and gaskets. Although the car has only done 3 or 4000 miles since the rebuild, it is time to change cam belt etc, as its been on the car now for nearly eight years.
It is a bit of a bonus hearing the squeal, rather than no warning at all and metal hitting metal.
