The last time I took the stag out, about a month ago, was one of those nice clear days that obviously turn to rain. I had only just changed the power supply to the wiper motor with the correct fuse, now a modern spade fuse rather than the old type. This is made a lot of difference as for some reason the old type of fuse would blow if that wasn’t enough rain on the windscreen. Also the motor would struggle a majority of the time to make a full sweep.
Although now I had a working windscreen wipers the actual blades just seem to smear the moisture and Road muck around the screen. These wiper blades weren’t that old but we are fairly crap at doing the job, well they didn’t really do the job at all.
So i started looking for some modern wiper blades that could be made to fit. I noticed that the original ones were only about 13 inches and this only covered a proportion of the screen. When I looked at it I thought you could get away with 15 inch blades on both the passenger and driver side.

With a quick trawl through eBay, Euro car parts and Amazon I found there was some Bosch AP 15u blades. This came with a variety of fittings as these are one blade fits all. It said somewhere in the bumf that it should fit 98% of all vehicles. Obviously I was quite aware that the stag would be in that 2% that wouldn’t fit.
I know it wasn’t going to be a straightforward fit, but the passenger side with a slight modification just using some tape could be made to fit quite easy, the driver-side needed a little bit of filing to fit. On the first go the passenger side no problem, drivers one for some reason just started to clip the top of the screen. So this needed a slight adjustment, it was Maybe that a bit of my wiper assembly is not on correctly I don’t know. But with a little bracket just bringing the wiper blade down by about 10mm it seem to have worked. With the passenger-side I could possibly get away with a 16 inch blade.
So if anybody else is not too happy with the wiping action of the blades there is a modern, very good quality, alternative to the crap ones that are available purely for the Triumph stag. These Bosch ones actually work like modern day cars.
