I replaced all the bushings with blue poly, replaced the strut inserts with Spax adjustable, new tie rod ends, new sway bar end links, poly spring insulators, and new road springs. Now the car has massive positive camber. I noticed the new road springs were quite a bit longer than those coming off the car - I would guess they're original. So, I'm going to be reinstalling the original springs and see what that does.
I know there are shims to adjust camber, but after 0.040 and still positive, I'm not getting anywhere near acceptable. Has anyone else had this experience with springs for the Stag?

Have you actually driven the car to see if it settles to a more acceptable camber ? the other thing that springs to mind is if you have changed the bushes on the track control arms then its advisable to do the final bolt tightening with the cars weight on them. this can be done by jacking it up as close to the lower ball joint as you can. Having said that it only really needs doing with rubber bushes, the poly ones have the spacer sleeve separate so in theory the poly bush can twist around it.
This is assuming you have a Triumph V8 fitted. A Rover V8 is lighter and conversion normally includes changing the front springs to compensate.

Yes Sir, it has a very freshly rebuilt TV8; I rebuilt the suspension while the engine was out. I put the front on jackstands and then put a jack under the balljoint. I lifted the car from the balljoint until the car lifted off the jackstand ~ 1 inch or so to compress the spring. Then I applied my weight to the top of the car to provide more compression, then I fully tightened the control arm.
I've driven the car about 20 miles total and it still has positive camber, not as bad as when I first put the car on the ground, but it's still there.

I have had problems with ride height after fitting new lowered springs from main suppliers (Paddocks I think), and they were too long. Just fitted a set of 1" lowered from Chris Witor and ride height is lower now.

I have heard of this happening quite a few times, I assume the problem is a lack of quality control on the springs. I also have Chris Witor's lowered progressive springs on both my Stags and my Stag engined estate, non of them have given any problems. Neil

Thanks Guys. I'll put the original springs back on, after my bulging disk stops screaming at me, and see where I'm at.

Turns out the new road springs from Rimmers are the same length, but they have 10 coils vs the stock springs have 9 coils. They are the same diameter, so there has to be a big difference in spring rate.

Have to say Rimmers is my last choice supplier. Paddocks, Robsport and LD part are the best in my opinion and I've had great customer service from these three many times in the past. Rimmers always seem to have higher prices and when I tried to take them up on their price match promise they said no. They sent me something once with a part missing and wouldn't post out another until I returned the incomplete one.

Interesting reading this. I put 1” lower springs all around on my stag, purchased from Paddocks, front is still high. Unfortunately I binned the old springs. Do I have to save for some Witor front springs now?
